Grace and Garbo were delighted to host the BGIA team at our Business Bay office as they held their first annual (global) meeting on the 14th October 2013. A number of milestones were discussed inclusive of a mentoring scheme to empower women. For the UAE Grace and Garbo has accepted the responsibility of running this program, and Rahma Himid (CEO Grace and Garbo) was only too willing to take this on.
Grace and Garbo’s CEO, Rahma Himid, gave a speech to the BGIA team about the meaning of success and the BGIA responded in kind by defining the successes of the organisation thus far.
This was a very full day, with many items on the agenda, but in the end everyone in attendance was delighted with the results.
Following on from the hard work in the Grace and Garbo office a red carpet event was arranged at Kiza Lounge on the 15th October 2013. This event was seen as a platform to launch the BGIA “Eradicate Illiteracy in Africa” campaign.
The event itself was well attended and presentations and speeches were made outlining the BGIA organisation, their recent programs and the launch of the new campaign.
The night was rounded off with a networking session and the chance for the attendees to get to know each other better. Up next for the BGIA team is a visit to Nigeria for a Global event aimed at highlighting the Elekuru Project and upcoming events in 2014.
Everyone at Grace and Garbo would like to wish BGIA all the best for the remainder of 2013 and for 2014. A special mention should also go out to Light House Studio in Dubai for their support and FT K Konnect.
