Grace and Garbo 2013 Year in Review

It’s that time of year where everyone is compiling lists of their favourites moments, songs, films, etc for 2013 and at Grace and Garbo we are no different.  2013 was a very busy year for Grace and Garbo and there were many highlights over the 12 month period.  We bopped at concerts, incubated new fashion talent, worked hard with our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) charity BGIA and launched our first TV show (Served The Show).  2013 finally saw us move into our corporate offices in Dubai and the completion of our corporate marketing collateral materials.

In January we had a BGIA (Black Girls Ignite Africa) photo shoot at Lighthouse Studios in Dubai and this was a great platform to raise awareness for our CSR partner in the UAE

As we moved into February Grace and Garbo were delighted to provide the PR for the MixTape Rewind event organised by the SunDance Live people.  The legendary band Air Supply headlined and they put on an amazing show for the gathered crowds at the Emirates Golf Club.

March was another musical month and Grace and Garbo collaborated with SunDance Live on the Du Dubai Music Festival 2013. Artists included Natalie Cole, Train, Eraser Heads and Shama Hamdan.  The Eleganceers at Grace and Garbo had a great few days bopping away to the various musical offerings.

April was all about fashion as Grace and Garbo were invited to provide PR services for Mazyouna Emirati fashion show held at the Burjuman Centre, Dubai.  This was a showcase for aspiring and existing Emirati fashion design talent and the 9 designers included our start up client KhawlaWRoadha.

On the 4th May 2o13 our first TV venture “Served The Show” premiered on ZEE TV. The first season focused on South Asian cuisine and we are delighted to announce that season 2 will be under production early in 2014.

July was all about the holy month of Ramadan. The summer months generally see a shift to indoor activities and this year was no different.  KhawlaWRoadha launched their Ramadan collection at O-Concept Store and Grace and Garbo provided the organisation for our two collaborating clients on the night.  There were several new collection launches in July including Suzani and O-Concept Store also held a Ramadan Pop Up Store over several days.

In August Grace and Garbo were delighted to finally find a home as we moved into our corporate offices in Golden Capital Tower, Business Bay, Dubai.  We also launched our corporate brochure in August.

September saw the launch of the Grace and Garbo blog platform and a revamp of our social media output.  We were also delighted to get sign off for the second series of “Served The Show”.

October was a busy month for attending events and the Grace and Garbo team were invited to the Ahlan Awards, the launch of the Burj Al Arab’s “Winter Wonderland” and Fashion Forward.  We also organised a bloggers event at O-Concept Store, hosted the BGIA team for their annual event and staged a behind the scenes photo shoot by Light House Studio at O-Concept Store.

In November the “Served The Show” culinary team were invited to the opening of Spanish restaurant/bar “El Sur” and they had a great night eating paella and mixing with Dubai’s media.  We organised a “New Collections” event for our lovely client O-Concept Store in the month and we also signed up Warda Haute Couture as a client.

December has been no different to the rest of the year with a plethora of events being attended.  The highlights were the opening of “Koi” restaurant in Abu Dhabi and our founder (and CEO) Rahma being invited to present an award at the Arab Woman Awards 2013.

Overall 2013 was an extremely busy but gratifying year for the Grace and Garbo team and we cannot wait to start 2014 with a bang.

Happy new year from everyone at Grace and Garbo.
