Grace and Garbo were delighted to provide PR services for the SunDance Live organisation for their Big Grill 2014 event. The event, part of the inaugural Dubai Food Festival, was hosted by the Emirates Golf Club and kicked off in bright sunshine at 2 pm on Friday 28th February.
The Grace and Garbo Eleganceer’s team arrived early at the venue to ensure media passes could be provided to press and photography teams attending the event. An immediate walk around the site revealed a generous number of food stalls, beverage areas, kids play areas and small and large stage areas for the local and international bands performing.
Included in the ticket price was access to a host of different BBQ food inclusive of pork chops, steaks, kofta kebabs, chicken, venison and grilled scallops. These were accompanied by generous helpings of sweetcorn, potatoes, beans and tomatoes. It would be fair to say that the food alone was worth the admission fee.

Early afternoon entertainment was provided by local DJ’s & bands and the atmosphere, and crowd, grew steadily as the day unfolded. The Grace and Garbo team were responsible for providing back stage access for the many press in attendance. Our very own Chief Eleganceer Rahma Himid also got in on the act and had several photographs taken with legendary UK band UB40.
All the performers were happy to provide their time for the local press and we thank them for their support.
The evening’s entertainment was kicked off by Marty Cintron of “No Mercy” fame and he performed a series of the bands old hits with a sprinkling of new tracks thrown in for good measure. His appearance was met with light drizzle but this did not put a dampener on the evening, and the gathered crowds enjoyed rolling back the years.
Next up was Diana King who added a reggae element to proceedings and she carried on where Marty left off. Those in attendance who were not previously familiar with her work would surely be converts to her reggae hall style and levels of energy by the end of her performance.
The final performance of the night was left to UK band UB40 and they did not disappoint. “Red red wine” “Ivory Madonna” and “One in ten” were just some of the tracks belted out with a real enthusiasm and the crowd showed their appreciation.
By the end of the evening the Grace and Garbo team were exhausted but delighted to have taken part in such a unique event in Dubai and we look forward to Big Grill 2015.
